Our centre

Our community centre in Lupset is the space where a lot of our work – from wellbeing classes to our youth café – takes place. But it’s also the base from which we offer many services and facilities.

Our café is open Monday-Friday 9am-2pm, offering a range of wholesome, nutritious home-cooked hot and cold meals, drinks and snacks at reasonable prices.

St George’s Community Centre is a warm, welcoming modern building close to Wakefield City Centre with good motorway links.

The building has disabled access, accessible toilets and baby change facilities. The car park offers free parking, including disabled spaces by the entrance.

We have a variety of rooms and spaces available to hire, whether it’s for a group activity, training session, seminar, interviewing, on a one-off or regular basis. We also have more generous rooms suitable for larger conferences and seminars.

Whatever the purpose of your meeting we can adapt the layout and facilities of the room to suit your individual needs.

We can provide: laptops and Wi-Fi connection, flip charts, multimedia projector, TV, video/DVD, and whiteboards.

As well as offering tea, coffee and refreshments, our community café can provide catering services. Please ask for details when booking.

Room booking form

St George’s has its own Minibus that can be hired with a driver included. The Minibus is a 16 seater (excluding the driver). The minibus can accommodate up to 2 wheelchairs, but please note that this affects the overall seating capacity.

To hire, you must become a member of St George’s Community Transport at a cost of £25 per year. The hourly rate is £30 (inclusive of driver and fuel) with a minimum booking of 3 hours.

We encourage community groups and organisations to hire from us. The Minibus is not for private hire (i.e. personal or family use).

Great community centre! Always lots on here ranging from cscs courses, sia courses and lots more with friendly, helpful staff who go out of there way to make sure you get what you need or a way to help. The on site cafe/snack bar is cheap and has a good selection. Also has a food bank and close by is a nursery and st George's church itself. Give these a try see for yourself x
