We are delighted to report that our nursery, Childcare @ Broadway was recently awarded “Strong Standard” in all areas by Ofsted. We were the first setting in Wakefield to be assessed under the new Ofsted system, with its new grades.
Going above and beyond
Our team worked alongside the Ofsted Inspectors as we all found our footing with the new assessment.
This “Strong Standard” grading acknowledges that we reach a strong standard of care, and our leaders are working above the standard expected of them.
Our recent Ofsted inspection has given us so much to be proud of. The dedication, teamwork, and professionalism shown by the staff team shone through. Our children impressed with their enthusiasm and love of learning, reminding us why we do what we do every day. And to our parents—your continued support and partnership played a vital part in this success, we achieve so much when we work together.

Supporting children's development
The report praised the progress all children make, regardless of ability. Our “carefully planned and systematic curriculum” is at the heart of all children’s learning. From supporting little ones to identify animals and their sounds to learning to add, “There is a clear focus on enriching children’s personal development and supporting skills and attitudes they need for later learning.”
Dedicated staff
Staff were praised as “consistently strong role models” who work closely with parents and establish excellent relationships with all children. Childcare @ Broadway centres each child’s individual needs and we “establish a caring and positive ethos throughout the nursery”.
Even after many years in early education, more than I can count, an Ofsted visit is always a nerve-wracking moment, especially when navigating a new framework. I couldn’t be prouder of the team at Broadway. Some staff are newly qualified, others bring a wealth of experience, but every single one of them is confident, dedicated, and deeply committed to the children in their care. Achieving ‘Strong’ across the board is no small feat; it is a true reflection of their professionalism and the exceptional work they do every day.
